Ren Zhengfei

Ren Zhengfei founded Huawei in 1987 with CNY 21,000 of startup capital and remains its CEO. He built the company from a telecom equipment reseller into the world's largest telecom equipment maker and a full-stack AI player, with the Ascend AI chip family and CANN software stack, the Kunpeng processor line, HarmonyOS and the Pangu models. Huawei is employee-owned, with Ren holding less than 1% of its shares; the company reported CNY 880.9 billion in revenue and CNY 192.3 billion of R&D spending in 2025.
